Abstract

This study examined the participation motivations of active ice-skaters and ice-hockey players in Turkey. A participation motivation questionnaire (PMQ) was conducted among 125 athletes (Age: 15.55; SD=6.67; Sports age: 6.13; SD=4.60).The obtained data were assessed with one-way ANOVA. A significant difference is found between sub-scales of success, physical fitness, fun, friendship, competition, movement, being active and skill development when genders of athletes are taken into consideration (P<0.05).
