Abstract
A magneticsolidphaseextractionmethodbasedon β-cyclodextrin(β-CD) graftedgrapheneoxide(GO)/ magnetite (Fe3O4) nano-hybridasaninnovativeadsorbentwasdevelopedfortheseparationandpre- concentration ofgemfibrozil priortoitsdeterminationbyspectrofluorometry.Theas-prepared β-CD/GO/ Fe3O4 nano-hybridpossessesthemagnetismpropertyofFe3O4 nano-particles thatmakesiteasily manipulated byanexternalmagnetic field. Ontheotherhand,thesurfacemodification ofGOby β-CD leads toselectiveseparationofthetargetanalytefromsamplematrices.Thestructureandmorphology of thesynthesizedadsorbentwerecharacterizedusingpowderX-raydiffraction,Fouriertransform infraredspectroscopy,and field emissionscanningelectronmicroscopy.Theexperimentalfactors affecting theextraction/pre-concentrationanddeterminationoftheanalytewereinvestigatedand optimized. Undertheoptimizedexperimentalconditions,thecalibrationgraphwaslinearintherange between 10and5000pgmL1 with acorrelationcoefficient of0.9989.Thelimitofdetectionand enrichment factorforgemfibrozil were3pgmL1 and 100,respectively.Themaximumsorption capacity oftheadsorbentforgemfibrozil was49.8mgg1. Themethodwassuccessfullyappliedto monitoring gemfibrozil inhumanserumandpharmaceuticalwastewaterssampleswithrecoveriesin the rangeof96.0–104.0%forthespikedsamples.
