A simpleandsensitivechemiluminescence(CL)procedurewasdevelopedforthequantification ofnitrite
in aqueoussolutions.Themethodisbasedonlight-initiatedgenerationofH2O2 by amagnetic
Ag@AgCl@Graphene oxidenanocompositeanditssubsequentredoxreactionwithnitriteioninacidic
medium. Duringthecarbonate-catalyzeddecompositionofproducedperoxynitriteandenergytrans-
ferring touranine,aCLemissionwasobservedat λ¼534 nm.SeveralfactorsaffectingtheCLintensity
wereinvestigatedandoptimized.Underoptimumconditions,theCLintensitywasdirectlyproportional
to thenitriteconcentrationintherangeof5‒200ngmL1. Thelimitofdetectionandrelativestandard
deviation (for n¼5; atanitriteconcentrationof70ngmL‾1) were1.15ngmL1 and 2.57%,respectively.
The methodwassuccessfullyappliedtodeterminenitriteinfoodstuffswithrecoveriesintherangeof
95.0–103.0%forthespikedsamples.Theaccuracyofthemethodwasevaluatedbycomparingtheresults
with thoseobtainedbyanalyzingthesamplesusingastandardmethod.
