Abstract
In this work, we prepared Co@Pt core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) via a fast and facile method. Then, the morphology and structure of the as-prepared nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrocatalytic activities of Co@Pt core-shell nanoparticles for ethylene glycol oxidation in acidic medium were investigated in detail. The electrochemical measurements show that the Co@Pt catalyst has superior catalytic activity and stability for ethylene glycol electrooxidation compared to Pt-alone nanoparticles. These results reveal that the Co@Pt core-shell nanoparticles are quite promising in the fuel cell applications.
