Abstract

Optical bistability is investigated in a four-level atomic system via direct and indirect incoherent pumpfields. The threshold of optical bistability has substantially been decreased by the rate of direct and indirectincoherent pump processes. In addition, quantum interference of spontaneous emission and incoherentpump field affect the bistabile behavior of the medium.
