Abstract

A novel and efficient procedure for the synthesis of 14-aryl-14H-dibenzo[a,j] xanthenes1 through one-pot condensation of β-naphtol with benzaldehyde derivatives in aqueous media catalyzed by nanoparticles of hydrogen sulfate ionic liquid immobilized on nanosilica is described. The method resulted in good to excellent yields in short reaction times.All reactions were monitored by TLC, and spectroscopic techniques such as 1HNMR and FT-IR, have been used to identify the products.
