Title A NOVEL MULTILEVEL CONVERTER WITH REDUCED NUMBER OF CIRCUIT DEVICES Type of Research Presentation Keywords Multilevel Voltage Source Inverter, Symmetric Inverter, Reduction of Circuit Components, cascaded multilevel converter Abstract In this paper a novel converter structure based on cascade converter family is proposed. The suggested multilevel advanced cascade converter has benefits such as reduction in number of switches and power losses. This characteristic causes low cost and small installation area for the suggested converter. Two topologies are proposed and then are analyzed and compared with conventional multilevel cascade converters. Comparison depicts that the proposed topology has the less number of IGBTs and lower loss in respect to conventional multilevel cascade type converters which have been introduced recently. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate its good performance and the effectiveness of the proposed configuration. The suggested converter can be used in low/medium voltage applications.
