Title
A Thorough Investigation on Effect of Cavitation Phenomenon in Transient Flows
Type of Research Presentation
Keywords
Cavitation, Fluid transient, Numerical simulation, two-phase flow
Abstract
This project presents a brief study of the pressure-driven cavitating flow of water in a sharp edged orifice. On account for high pressure differentials involvement and the high liquid/vapor density ratio, modeling of this configuration can be considered as a relatively challenging task. Multiphase flow modeling has been implemented for capturing the cavitation near the orifice after flow separation at the sharp edge, severely. The contour of velocity vector, static pressure, as well as some other turbulent characteristics have plotted for illustration of cavitation purposes.
