Title
Synthesis and characterization of new ferrocenyl based metal-containing ionic liquids
Type of Research Presentation
Keywords
Ionic liquids, ferrocenyl, metal-containing ionic liquids
Abstract
Ionic liquids (ILs) have drawn much attention during the last few decades due to their remarkable potential for technological applications based on their high thermal, chemical stability, tunable polarity, negligible vapor pressure, and their nonflammable nature.1 In recent years metal-containing ionic liquids (MCILs) have also been developed by several groups.2 These compounds represent a promising subclass of charged liquids that combine the properties of ILs with magnetic, photophysical/optical or catalytic properties of the incorporated metal species.3 So we became interested in synthesis and characterization of such ionic liquids because they could be used as green solvent and catalyst in organic reactions. We report synthesis of 1-(Ferrocenylbutyl)-3-methyl imidazolium chloride as a metal-containing ionic liquid, also we exchange the chloride with other anions such as azide and tetrafluroborate due to obtain metal-containing ionic liquids with new properties
