Direct oxidative esterification of aldehydes with alcohols to corresponding esters under mild conditions is a useful reaction in organic synthesis and industrialization; hence, much effort has been devoted to find new methods and effective reagents for this type of reaction1. On the other hand, ionic liquids are a class of materials which have attracted many scientists attention as a green solvent and catalyst for chemical reactions2. However, as the introduction of cleaner technologies have become a major concern throughout both industry and academia, the search for alternatives to the most damaging solvents has become a high priority. Solvents are high on the list of damaging chemicals because they are volatile liquids that used in huge amounts3. So in this work we used [BMIM][X] ( X = Cl, BF4 ) ionic liquids as solvent in present of different reagents for oxidative esterification reaction (Scheme1). Under this condition high yield product was obtained without any byproduct, in addition in some cases the yield of product in this condition was higher than the condition that we are used toxic solvents.
