Abstract
About 60% population of the world are living in masonry structures, as shown in Fig.1. Flanders masonry method is one of masonry techniques and it is common in Asian area. Since many masonry structures are not reinforced, they are very weak during an earthquake [1]. The distribution of masonry structures is overlapping to high seismicity regions as shown in Fig.2. Earthquake excitation causes the collapse of the masonry structures and makes casualties and loss of property. The commissures between bricks and mortar are weak point. The protections in historical masonry structures, as well as prevent the collapse of masonry structures and human casualties during earthquakes are very important. Seismic performance of masonry structures must be improved.
