Abstract

Purpose: E-learning is one of the most discussed learning environments in the information age. Students and
professors as the most important elements of the education system have the central and crucial role in effective
and successful implementation of e-learning technologies in the field of teaching and learning; and knowing
their preparation and attitudes for successful implementation and enforcement of such an approaches essential.
Therefore, the present study has been covered in order to fulfill this requirement and designed to assess the
preparation of students and attitudes of Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University’s professors toward e-learning
system. Methodology The descriptive-survey study was conducted on218students and 198 faculty members of
Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University in 2014-2015 academic years, which were selected by stratified random
sampling method. The amount of students’ preparation and professors’ attitude towards e-learning system were
measure using a standard questionnaire. Statistical analysis used in this study is descriptive and inferential
statistics (frequency tables, bar graphs, mean and standard deviation, one-sample-test and F- test). Findings:
Research findings showed that students of Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University have moderate preparation to
participate in e-learning, and also the results indicate that professors of the university have a positive attitude
towards the implementation of e-learning system. The results analysis indicates that there is significant
difference between the amounts of students’ preparation indifferent schools to participate in e-learning. But
about the rest of the questions (the difference between students’ preparation according to their educational level
and academic achievements) the difference was not significant. Finally, practical recommendations are provided
according to the analysis.
