Abstract
Rhuscoriaria Linn (Anacardiacea), commonly known as sumac,a shrub plant of Anacardiaceae family, is an important crop widely used in iran as a food spice, andalso in folk medicine, due to its health-promoting properties.Protocatechuic acid and its derivatives are active compounds as anti-bacterial, anti-viral, antimicrobials,anti- diabetic, andantioxidants. A broad range of nutritionally and medicinally significant phytochemical components have been identified from various parts of sumac as tannins, flavones, flavonoids, anthocyanins, proteins, volatile oils, organic acids, nitrates and nitrites. In traditional system of medicine, this plant has been used in the treatment of ulcer, haemorrhoids, hemorrhage, wound healing, hemoptysis , sore ophthalmia, conjunctivitis, dysentery, diarrhea, animal bites, poison, pain, and liver disease. In this study vinyl acetate derivative ofProtocatechuic acid were synthesized]1-2[. Vinyl derivative synthesis was carried out as follows, mercury acetate as a catalyst and vinyl acetate is as asylh suppliers. The reaction mixture was refluxed for 24hours at45c0 temperature.
