A novel Sepic based high step-up DC-DC converter is presented in this paper. A coupled inductor with three windings is employed in the proposed converter to achieve high voltage gain. In order to recycle the energy stored in the leakage inductor of the coupled inductor, a passive voltage clamp is used. The voltage of the main switch is clamped by this passive voltage clamp. Therefore, the voltage stress of the main switch is low which causes a low on-resistance (RDS-on) switch to be used which reduces conduction loss and increases the efficiency. The steady state analysis of the proposed converter is discussed. Finally, the simulation results are prepared to justify the validity of the analysis.
