Photocatalytical Water Oxidation by TiO2/MMO Nanocomposites under Visible Light Irradiation

Abstract
Titanium dioxide/ZnAl-layered double hydroxide nanocomposites (TiO2/ZnAl-LDH) were prepared by using the co-precipitation method. Then, the TiO2/ metal mixed oxides (TiO2/MMOs) were roduced by annealing TiO2/ZnAl-LDH at 430 °C. The obtained materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). In the next step, we investigated the photocatalytic activity of the TiO2/MMOs nanocomposites toward O2 generation from the aqueous solution, under visible light. The photocatalytic activity of the TiO2/MMO is better than that of TiO2/ZnAl-LDH. The TiO2/MMO nanocomposite could produce 371 μmolh-1g-1 of O2 using 20 mg of the photocatalyst.
