Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this study was the survey of the ways of creation and promotion of motivation to perform regular physical activity and sport in addicts. Methods: To so this, 175 addict participants in treatment center of addiction completed the questionnaire package, including preferred physical activity, motivation for physical activity and exercise, barriers to being active quiz, Fagerstorm test for nicotine dependence and physical activity assessment inventory. Results: Lack of energy, lack of time and lack of power were the first three preferred barriers to physical activity. Relative autonomy index showed that most of the addicts have internal motivations to do physical activity. Walking and swimming were the top priorities. Also, physical activity self-efficacy negatively correlated with some barriers to physical activity and extrinsic motivations, and positively with intrinsic motivations, significantly. Conclusions: Some suggestions were offered according to priorities of addicts in about type, intensity and how to do physical activity and with considering the importance of intrinsic motivations and self-efficacy in physical activity
