Abstract
Yarrow (A. wilhelmsii C. Koch) is one of the most important medicinal and aromatic herbs that is rich in compounds such as flavonoids, lactones, monoterpenoids, alkaloids, etc. Tissue and cell culture techniques can be used to increase the production efficiency of these important compounds. They are also necessary to create effective in vitro regeneration systems for massive clonal propagation in a short time as well for genetic engineering of metabolic pathways. In this research, effective in vitro plant regeneration systems from different explants of yarrow, including leaves, hypocotyl and cotyledon were established. Our developed systems are fast, reliable, and efficient, and allow the use of different explants as starting materials. In addition to the use of developed systems for in vitro conservation, in vitro production of desired compounds, and propagation of yarrow, the results can be used in future molecular breeding programs of this plant through genetic engineering techniques.
