For the first time, titanium surface was reinforced with carbon nano tubes (CNTs) by friction stir processing to produce nanocomposites for biomedical applications. By increasing the number of passes, the strength and hardness were increased due to formation of finer CNTs distributed uniformly in fine dynamically recrystallized grains. The optimum condition, by maximizing both the strength and ductility, was achieved at two numbers of passes.
