Violence against women includes any sort of gender-based cruel behavior causing injury or accompanied by physical, sexual and affective likelihood or women’s suffering. The present study aims at investigating the violence against pregnant women. The present review study has been carried out within the format of library research in a time span from 1992 to 2013 as well as based on searches in information databases and international websites using such keywords as violence, pregnancy, wastage of right. The formal articles and publications by World Health Organization and UN as well as authentic jurisprudential resources and the results of holy Quran’s content analysis were also utilized in this regard. The present study findings pertain to three groups, namely factors and outcomes, prevalence in Iran and world and violence and human rights. All in all, the predisposing factors of violence and domestic cruelty in pregnancy, absence of social stability, unhealthy lifestyle and health problems were found amongst the primary causes of violence against pregnant women. According to the AHADITH and holy Quran’s AYAT, violence against women is not justifiable at all. Violence against pregnant women occasionally exerts irreparable influences on the neonates and cases of resultant fetus death have even been documented.
