Abstract
Today, the importance of vocabulary learning strategies is increasing and the diversity of these techniques is more than ever. Due to the variety of learning formats, there are different ways to learn words. Technologies such as image and sound have increased the retention of vocabulary in the minds of learners. Also, due to the age of learners in this study, the attractiveness of these learning methods is of particular importance to them. For many years, language learners at the elementary level have been learning vocabulary with traditional methods, which has reduced their motivation to learn. Nevertheless, the recent investigation has revealed that utilizing new word learning techniques in the form of podcasts and images improves both learning inspiration and learning speed. In this research, we will identify the types of picture-based methods that have been limited in researches so far and express their advantages. The picture-based method includes images, Moving Pictures, video, animation, or PowerPoint. The next importance of this research is that due to the age group of the study population and their difficulty in learning words, it is thought that these new methods will increase the rate of vocabulary learning and memorizing words in them; although, in recent investigations paid less attention to the elementary group of learners and this problem. The main objective of this study will be to investigate the effectiveness of picture-based and podcast-based vocabulary learning on Iranian elementary language learners.
