Abstract
The broadcasting services have been divided into two parts in Iran recently; the official TV channels of IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) and some private Iranian video sharing services such as Aparat, Namasha, Namava, Telewebion, and… which are under the rules of the government. The selection of animations for translation and dubbing in every country is influenced by some factors which need to be investigated and this study is going to investigate those animations of Walt Disney and Warner Bros which are selected in Iranian national TV for audiovisual translation from women portrayal perspective from 60s until now, and to investigate if there are any changes in the content of the animation's translation observed in this period of time and also to contrast the policies of Iranian official channels with the policies of the private video sharing services in this country. The other aim of this study is to investigate the changes or manipulations which have been made in the translation of the dubbed versions. By examining Walt Disney and Warner Bros' animations qualitatively and with a focus on women's role in the society, the data has been purposefully selected from the women perspective or in other words those animations of Walt Disney and Warner Bros in which women are the main characters in order to answer the question that which of these selected animations is dubbed in Persian and are broadcasted by official TV channels or by some private Iranian video sharing services in Iran. After finding answers to this question, this study is going to examine the content of the cartoons to see the changes made from women perspective and why this change has been made. In order to collect data, the archives of Walt Disney and Warner Bros' animations are used; those animations whose first character is a woman has been purposefully collected.
