Abstract
The energy management strategy should ensure high system efficiency and high reliability with least cost. In the paper after a comprehensive examination of the issue, an optimal and innovative method is offered for locating and sizing of capacitor banks along a distribution feeder. The method is based on the identification of electric reactive power on a distribution feeder. In the planned method electric reactive power of the capacitor bank placed in a location is proportionate to the electric reactive power feeding in that location. Hence electric reactive power compensation is completely achieved and loss minimization is attained. On the other hand, it would be probable that the number of capacitor positioning location is lessened, so the electric reactive power of capacitor banks is enlarged, then, the cost of electric reactive power compensation is also lessened.
