Abstract
Despite the very high economic importance of eriophyoid mites, so far no comprehensive study has been done on the mites of this superfamily in Ardabil province. Meshginshahr rangelands are of great economic importance for Nomads of the Shahsavan tribe Livestock. Therefore, to identify eriophyoid mites, sampling was done on dominant plants of this region during the summer of 2020. Eriophyoid mites were recovered from plant samples using a modified washing method. The mites were mounted and morphological measurements were taken using a phase contrast microscope Olympus BX53. As result, eriophyoid species were identified among which one Cecidophyopsis species collected on the host plant Lonicera sp. (Caprifoliaceae) was new for the world that is the first record of Cecidophyopsis species on this plant genus and the first record of eriophyoid mites from the plant family Caprifoliaceae in Iran. In addition, three of the identified species were new records to the fauna of Ardabil province including Aculops seguieranae Lotfollahi, Irani-Nejad, Khanjani, Moghadam & de Lillo, 2012 from Euphorbia seguierana Necker (Euphorbiacea), Aceria spanda Lotfollahi, Haddad & de Lillo, 2015 from Peganum harmala L. (Nitrariaceae) and Aceria loborectiangulae Lotfollahi & Tajaddod, 2018 from Atraphaxis spinosa L. (Polygonaceae).
