Abstract

The prediction of deflections and cracking of RC beams with corroding reinforcement involves significant uncertainties associated with material properties, loads, and predictive models. Under such circumstances, it is advantageous to use a probabilistic approach. In the reliability analysis of the RC beams, one of the important issues is the selection of important random variables involved in the reliability of beams. In the case of corroded RC beams, this problem has not been addressed in recent studies, while the selection of important random variables can have a significant impact on reducing the time of sampling analysis and also on the method of choosing an appropriate retrofitting method. Therefore, the reliability-based sensitivity analysis will be done for the corroded RC beam with different corrosion levels corresponding to the ultimate and serviceability limit states to identify the important random variables.
