Previous research has focused on a single analysis of the dubbed or subtitled versions to show strategies applied for English to Persian translation of vulgar language. This study intends to comparatively investigate strategies applied for English to Persian translation of vulgar language. This research is beneficial because it helps the Persian translators to deal with vulgar language, as incontrovertible variables in English movies, properly to reach an acceptable translation by the Persian audience. Through discussing the constraints imposed on Persian translation of vulgar language in two English movies, the present study not only helps the translators in reaching a proper translation but also in familiarizing the Persian audiences with what is going on behind the scene. It also helps the translators to enhance the quality of translations and achieve a desirable effect. This study provides educational purposes for translation students. The use of vulgarism is normal these days, so it helps the students to find more vulgar synonyms. Although those synonyms cannot be understood as an outright intention of source language, however, it can truly help them to decrease choosing wrong synonyms. Moreover, cross cultural and mutual understanding are promoted through considering certain vulgar language terms to help the translator during the process of translation. It also aims to evince an attitude of how the translator walks on the razor’s edge.
