Abstract
Electricity has become an essential component of modern life, and even brief power outages can result in significant financial and even life losses. As a result, the importance of checking the reliability of power systems has doubled, and researchers publish numerous articles in this area each year. A practical method for calculating the reliability of systems will also be described, and the modeling and evaluation of systems will be studied in detail in this thesis. In addition, the reliability concepts of power systems will be explained. In brief, this thesis states: • Reliability assessment of smart grids • Considering distributed renewable generation and energy storage in the reliability assessment • Optimum sizing of distributed renewable resources in order to improve reliability • Modeling the uncertainty of power delivered to the grid by distributed renewable generation • The use of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm
