Material evaluation in general and culture analysis in particular have a lot of benefits for students, teachers and even material developers. First, material evaluation can help teachers to analyze the fact that whether the textbooks are effective with regard to their specific group of students or not. Knowing merits and demerits of the textbooks leads to better lesson planning by the teacher. This analysis can add to the teachers’ awareness in terms of being a facilitator who can help students during the process of culture learning. Taking cultural backgrounds into account, students can have better communication with native speakers without any prejudices (Marinović, 2018), as a result of which communicative competence especially in international settings increases (Shin, Eslami, & Chen, 2011). When they learn target culture during the process of learning that language, their identity will be recognized as well (Hall, 1996). Respecting both target and source culture can give multicultural perspective to the learner so that they can not only understand the target culture but also represent their own local culture. Their critical thinking ability can be added as a result of this awareness as well. Even material developers can perceive the significance of material evaluation in the sense that they will understand the strengths and weaknesses which help them to improve the next sources. When they are aware of this fact, they will understand which areas need revision in general. Also, they will contain culture and other variables into the textbooks which can challenge the students so as to know different viewpoints in particular.
