Abstract
Polymers as solid adsorbents show good performance for environmental applications. Considering that the characteristics of polymeric adsorbents play a critical role in their practical applications, the exact determination of these characteristics has remained a challenging issue among researchers. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the preparation and characterization methods of polymeric adsorbents. In this chapter, the characterization of polymeric adsorbent is classified into six groups: morphology, surface area and pore size, elemental and chemical composition, thermal properties, and zeta potential. The most common analysis used for each of them was explained in more detail along with examples. Each analysis was applied based on the properties and nature of the polymer.
