Abstract
|
The mite family Stigmaeidae (Acari, Prostigmata) is the largest in the superfamily
Raphignathoidea and currently includes about 640 species of 33 valid genera. The present
project aimed to identify the predatory species belonging to the family Stigmaeidae in the
gardens and fields of Urmia (West Azerbaijan Province). In 2022, samples were taken from
soil and aerial parts of trees in Urmia. After preparing microscopic slides, 16 species of 10
genera from the Stigmaeid family were collected and identified. Among them, two species
are new records for mite fauna of Iran, which are marked with asterisk. The list of the
identified mites includes the following taxa. Stigmaeidae: Cheylostigmaeus sp.; Eryngiopus
