Title
SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ZnO NANOPARTICLES FOR PHOTOCATALYTIC DEGRADATION OF ACRIDINE ORANGE
Type of Research Presentation
Keywords
ZnO nanoparticles; synthesis; Acridine Orange
Abstract
In the present study, ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized from Zinc chloride in two different conditions. The synthesis is based on a simple precipitation method. The nanoparticles' composition, crystallinity and size were investigated and compared by Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). After complementary characterization, as-prepared ZnO-NPs were further subjected for its photocatalytic behavior. The toxic Acridine Orange dye was degraded by ZnO NPs in indoor light and the disappearance of the dye was monitored by a spectrophotometer.
