The research innovation proposed in this study is the use of voltage-based droop control (VBD) for the control and improvement of distribution system operations with energy storage systems. VBD is a method used to regulate the output power of distributed energy resources (DER) in a microgrid. It works by adjusting the microgrid voltage levels based on the amount of power generated and consumed. By using VBD to control the use of energy storage applications, it enables operators to balance power output from various sources such as solar panels, wind turbines and batteries to meet consumer demand. This helps to optimize energy consumption and reduce costs, as well as ensure the system operates efficiently and reliably while maximizing the use of renewable energy sources.
