Abstract
Two types of fictional narratives are popular among people: short stories and novels. It is a common belief among non-academic people that translated text or translation is almost identical to the original one; however, it inherently carries distinctions. A translator may derive a different meaning from a given sentence compared to the interpretations of other translators. Manipulation is an inevitable part of the translation process. and translators consciously or unconsciously expose their attitudes and values through translation. These perspectives inevitably shape how a text is interpreted and disseminated in another language. The work of a translator is never neutral, whether they are aware of this or not. Consequently, translators create a new product by implying their ideology on the source text. According to Baker (2014), human access to reality is limited and only available through long and short stories people tell each other. The present study is centered on three collections of short stories by authors around the world, translated by Hossein Yaghoubi. This study examines the translator's manipulations on female characters and analyzes the ideological selection of words and expressions in the text
