1,4-dihydropyridines (1,4-DHPs) are pharmacologically active compounds and are an
important class of L-type calcium channel blockers utilized in the treatment of cardiovascular
disorders, including hypertension, angina, and other spastic muscle disorders. As a result,
1,4-dihydropyridines (DHPs) serve as privileged pharmacophores and are attractive synthetic
targets in organic chemistry. This review aims to describe various methodologies employed
in the synthesis of this class of compounds.
