Abstract
Interdiction and problem statement ​After restructuring in the power systems, the tendency to elevate the profits of independent countless players who have participated in the electricity market has been increased dramatically, which in turn is caused to intensive usage of transmission networks [1]. This issue is resulted the power systems to often be exploited near their nominal capacity. Under these circumstances, the occurrence of any unexpected contingency in the transmission network or sudden increase of load demand will cause overloading and congestion in some or even all network lines [2]. Congestion, as a consequence of network constraints, not only increases the cost of power delivery, but also decreases revenue adequacy of system. On the other hand, the power systems have experienced a progressive infiltration of renewable resources particularly wind power in the generation portfolio of electricity markets over the last decade, which is resulted to create new challenges in the safe and reliable operation of power systems [3]. Moreover, the intermittent temperament and inherent variability of wind power has led this issue toward a more complex problem and imposed significant difficulties into the problem [4]. Accordingly, appropriate measures should be taken by independent system operator (ISO) to eliminate and manage the congestion of wind integrated transmission networks which otherwise will cause to increase the locational marginal prices (LMP) and also threatens the security and stability of power systems. Congestion management (CM) refers to a set of actions for efficiently alleviating congestion of transmission networks without violating the system constraints which can be categorized into two main groups consisting cost-free and non-cost-free approaches [5].
