Abstract

The research explores power dynamics in Animal Farm through Michel Foucault's theories on discipline, surveillance, and authority. Napoleon's rise to power illustrates Foucault’s view that power is maintained through normalization, propaganda, and control of knowledge. The pigs' manipulation of language and truth reflects Foucault’s panoptic model, where individuals internalize oppression. The study also incorporates perspectives from Arendt, Gramsci, Bourdieu, Butler, Weber, Althusser, Freud, and Marx to analyze ideology, class struggle, and authority. Using a qualitative literary approach, the research examines how Orwell’s novel critiques totalitarianism by depicting the cyclical nature of power, resistance, and social control.
