The examination of the studies of literary genres shows that fantasy novels have attracted considerable attention in recent decades. These novels empower the readers to transcend the boundaries of the reality owing to the fact that they make them familiar with various magical elements, supernatural creatures, and imaginative environments. The examination of the modern fantasy novels highlights the fact that J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter Series has been one of the widely read and examined novel series in the recent two decades. It takes advantage of diverse literary concepts to delineate the adventures of its main character Harry Potter. It can be argued that the present study constitutes an important study in English literature owing to the fact that it: a) focuses on the roles of human psyche and moral development in fantasy novels; b) enables the readers to understand the concept of uncanny; c) focuses on the societal issues including prejudice, power dynamics, and moral ambiguity by investigating the concept of ethical constructs; d) provides a better understanding of the reasons behind characters’ behavioural patterns; e) prompts the researchers to conduct similar studies of various literary concepts based on the main principles of psychoanalysis. The present study will strive to contribute to the literature on J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter Series by: a) scrutinising the extent to which characters’ behaviour and choices depict the concepts of ethical constructs, supernatural elements, and the uncanny; b) using the main principles of psychoanalysis theory to expound on the main characters’ choices and decisions in this series; and c) providing a better understanding of the role of unconscious mind in character development.
