چکیده
The urgency of investigating the correlation between low serum magnesium levels and metabolic syndrome in adults, particularly in Kirkuk, Iraq, stems from several critical factors. The increasing incidence of metabolic syndrome in various populations poses a significant public health challenge. This condition not only affects individual health but also places a considerable burden on healthcare systems. By understanding the underlying factors, such as serum magnesium levels, we can better address this growing concern. Despite the well-documented role of magnesium in metabolic processes, there is a substantial gap in research regarding its impact on metabolic syndrome within Middle Eastern countries, including Iraq. This study aims to fill this void, contributing valuable data to the existing literature and offering insights that are locally relevant. Exploring the relationship between magnesium and metabolic syndrome can illuminate essential biochemical pathways involved in insulin resistance, lipid metabolism, and other metabolic functions. By uncovering these links, we may gain a deeper understanding of how magnesium deficiency can exacerbate metabolic disorders. Should a significant correlation between low magnesium levels and metabolic syndrome be established, it can lead to targeted public health interventions. These might include dietary recommendations, supplementation strategies, and tailored health education programs aimed at improving magnesium intake and thereby mitigating the risk of metabolic syndrome. This research not only aims to impact local health outcomes but also aspires to contribute to the global understanding of the role of micronutrients in metabolic health. The findings could serve as a reference for further research and interventions in similar populations, fostering a broader dialogue about nutritional deficiencies and their health implications. In summary, this research is vital for addressing a critical health issue, filling an important
