This study, titled “Translatability of Cosmic Horror Elements in Lovecraft’s Selected Works,” investigates the challenges and possibilities of transferring the core components of cosmic horror into Persian translation. Given the profound connection of H. P. Lovecraft’s fiction to cosmicism—with its distinctive aesthetic, philosophical, and ideological structures—these texts pose significant difficulties for translators. Drawing on the theoretical framework of Post‑Translation Studies, particularly Edwin Gentzler’s model in Translation and Rewriting in the Age of Post‑Translation Studies (2017), the research examines how concepts such as rewriting, adaptation, and tradaptation shape the translated texts. The objective is to identify and explicate the key elements of cosmic horror and to develop a framework that enables a more accurate and culturally informed translation of these elements into Persian. The corpus includes selected works of Lovecraft alongside their existing Persian translations.
