Understanding whether chronic vitamin D deficiency contributes to systemic inflammation and insulin resistance in Iraqi children is vital for early prediction and prevention of metabolic syndrome, particularly in populations with high obesity rates. Clarifying this association may support the development of national pediatric screening guidelines and targeted vitamin D supplementation programs that can modify disease trajectory at an early stage [4]. Furthermore, such insight is essential in Iraq due to unique environmental and lifestyle factors affecting vitamin D status, including cultural clothing, indoor lifestyle, nutritional behaviors, and limited supplementation policies [5].
