Abstract With the increase in the use of drugs and the introduction of resistant compounds such as diclofenac into pharmaceutical and industrial wastewaters, effective treatment of these pollutants has become a serious environmental challenge. Conventional treatment methods have limited efficiency in completely removing these compounds due to their high chemical and biological stability. In this study, with the aim of developing a new method, the advanced sono-Fenton process is used in the presence of a stable nanocomposite based on a magnetic metal-organic framework (MOF). The synthesized nanocomposite, with its high specific surface area, high stability, and suitable magnetic properties, will increase the production of active radicals, facilitate catalyst recycling, and improve the efficiency of diclofenac removal. Also, optimization of operating conditions and investigation of the coordination behavior of the resulting compounds with intermediate elements are on the agenda in order to better understand the reaction mechanism. The results of this study can lead to the provision of a green, economical, and effective method for treating pharmaceutical wastewaters and reducing environmental pollution.
