Abstract

Liver cancer, especially hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), remains one of the most life-threatening malignancies worldwide, and its burden continues to rise in regions with high viral hepatitis prevalence and environmental carcinogen exposure. Despite progress in imaging and tumor markers, challenges persist in the early detection and outcome prediction of HCC. The GSTP1 gene encodes a key detoxification enzyme, and the rs1695 polymorphism (Ile105Val) may reduce enzymatic activity and increase oxidative stress, influencing tumor initiation and progression. This study explores whether GSTP1 rs1695 polymorphism contributes to altered biochemical detoxification markers in liver cancer patients.
