چکیده

In this study, a magnetic Ni-doped CeO2 nanocomposite as a solid phase extraction agent was prepared for
selective extraction and pre-concentration of trace levels of lead ions prior to determination by flame atomic
absorption spectrometry. The structure and morphology of the synthesized nano-sorbent were characterized
using powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and field emission scanning electron
microscopy. The extracting nano-sorbent integrates huge special surface area, excellent extracting capacity and
magnetic property for separation convenience. Several factors affecting the extraction of the analyte were
investigated and optimized. Under optimum conditions, the calibration graph is linear in the range of 1-300 ng
mL–1 for Pb(II) ions. The limit of detection is 0.4 ng mL–1. The intra- and inter-day relative standard deviations
for six replicate determinations of 200 ng mL−1 Pb(II) ion are 2.58 and 2.95%, respectively. The method was
validated by the successful analysis of a standard reference material (NIST SRM 1643e; trace elements in water)
and applied to the determination of lead in several water and wastewater samples with recoveries in the range
of 95–102 % for the spiked samples.
