The present study has for the first time produced Ce-containing NiAl-layered double hydroxide (Ce-containing
NiAl-LDH), in which nitrate ion has been used as the charge balancing anion in the interlayer space. The suggested
protocol has been conducted under hydrothermal/co-precipitation in the presence of trimethylamine
and in the absence of nitrogen atmosphere. Besides, in Ce-containingNiAl-LDH gallery, the ion-exchange method
has been used for co-intercalation of the luminescent dye acid red–27 (AR-27) anions and the surfactant sodium
dodecyl sulfate (SDS) with different molar ratios. Consequently, organic-inorganic hybrids have been formed.
Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), elemental analysis (CHNs), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), Fourier
transforminfrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)were used to characterize
the produced LDH and hybrids. In Ce-containing NiAl-LDH, host–guest interactionswere seen between LDH host
layers and interlayer guest anions. Using photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), it was observed that the emission
bands of co–intercalated LDHs are affected by different molar ratios between AR-27 and SDS anions.
These co-intercalated LDHs can serve as a type of promising organic-inorganic luminescent material.
