چکیده
A novel derivative of chitosan functionalized with chloroacyl chloride and 2-(2-aminoethylamino) ethanol was synthesized and used for the preparation of the magnetic nanocomposite containing Fe3O4@TiO2 nanoparticles. The synthesized nanocomposite was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The application of this nanocomposite was examined for the defluoridation of water, and the effect of different factors such as, contact time, pH and competitor ions was investigated. Among the Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherms applied to the sorption, the Langmuir model showed the best agreement with the experimental fluoride sorption data. According to the kinetics study, the adsorption mechanism was found to obey the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Also, the nature of the fluoride adsorption on the nanocomposite was investigated by determining the thermodynamic parameters. Furthermore, it was proposed that the mechanism of the fluoride sorption on the nanocomposite was related to the electrostatic attraction via hydrogen bonding.
