چکیده

Polypropylene (PP)/ high density polyethylene (HDPE) blend nanocomposites were prepared using an
internal mixer. One commercial organo-montmorillonite (20A) and one maleated polymer (PP-g-MA) served as the
reinforcing filler and compatibilizer, respectively. Four different blending sequences were studied. The results showed
that clay in all the nanocomposites had a tendency to distribute in matrix phase or interface and formed the
intercalated structure when PP-g-MA was presented. The tensile modulus of PP/HDPE blends increased after adding
C20A. Specifically, there was a synergistic effect of PP-g-MA and clay in improving the particles size distribution in
some nanocomposites. The results also show that the degree of the synergistic compatibilizing effect was dependent on
the nanocomposite preparation condition such as blending sequences and rotor speed during preparing of the
nanocomposites.
