Synthesis and Application of Nickel Oxide-Nickel Ferrite-Chitosan Magnetic Nanocomposite as a Novel and Efficient Nano-Sorbent for Magnetic Solid Phase Extraction of Cadmium Ion

چکیده
In this research, a novel magnetic nanocomposite (MNC) was synthesized by hybridation of chitosan (CS) with nickel oxide-nickel ferrite (NiO-NiFe2O4) magnetic nanoparticles through pH change of chitosan and NiO-NiFe2O4 dispersion. The prepared NiO-NiFe2O4-CS magnetic nanocomposite was applied as an effectual adsorbent for magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) of cadmium ions followed by determination using flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The synthesized NiO-NiFe2O4-CS MNC was characterized using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry, field emission scanning electron microscopy and tunneling electron microscopy. After confirming the successful synthesis of NiO-NiFe2O4-CS MNC and its ability to extract cadmium ions, important parameters influencing the extraction recovery were studied and optimized via one at a time approach. Based on the method validation, the method is linear in the concentration range of 0.2 to 30 ng mL -1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9996 and the limit of detection was calculated to be 0.02 ng mL -1 . The method’s intera-day and inter-day repeatability with six replicates were 1.42 % and 2.11 %, respectively. The accuracy of the developed method was evaluated by the analysis of a certified reference sample. The developed method was applied for determination of Cd(II) ions in various real water samples, in which high recoveries were resulted, confirming the insignificant matrix effect and applicability of the developed method.
