چکیده
This paper presented an investigation and comparative study of five integrated organic Rankine cycle (ORC) and Brayton supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO2) cycles based on the high-temperature heat source such as a modular reactor, including single- and double-stage, recompression, internally and externally cooling S-CO2/ORC. All proposed cycles were analyzed from the exergoeconomic point of view. A Rankine cycle with the isopentane working fluid is connected to the primary cycle via a heat recovery steam generator in the S-CO2 cycles to improve the overall performance of the cycles. By the economic analysis for each cycle, total product unit cost, capital investment, and the cost of exergy destruction for the system components have been calculated. The results show that among these cycles, the highest thermal and exergy efficiencies of 42.95% and 59.4y, are related to the internally S-CO2/ORC. Moreover, the lowest total product unit cost of 11.56 $/GJ belongs to the recompression and follows by internally cooling S-CO2/ORC, while the lowest capital investment cost of 4429 $/h is related to the double-stage regenerative S-CO2/ORC. Finally, the internally cooling S-CO2/ORC has the lowest exergy destruction rate of 1948 $/h among the cycles.
