The increasing adoption of renewable energy sources has led to the development of microgrids, which are localized networks of energy sources, loads, and energy storage systems, that can operate independently from the main power grid. The optimal operation of these microgrids, however, is often a challenging task due to the complexity of the system and the presence of multiple energy sources. The addition of energy storage systems to the microgrids, however, can help to reduce the complexity of the system and improve its efficiency. Thus, it is essential to study the optimal operation of microgrids in the presence of energy storage systems in order to maximize the utilization of renewable energy sources and improve the efficiency of the microgrid.
