Large price-sensitive consumers and energy storage facilities can be regarded as dispatchable resources that can reduce system operating costs while simultaneously enhancing network flexibility to safely and suitably host additional renewable energy sources. However, there have been few effective approaches to assist large clients, along with energy storage facilities, with the difficult decision-making process for engaging in the programs. To solve the problem, this research provides an integrated decision-making tool for energy storage and big customers to assess how they can vary their power schedules from regular operation patterns in the hope of profiting from price and renewable fluctuations as well as incentive payments supplied by system operators. The developed plan, which is formulated as a MILP problem and simultaneously identifies the optimal integration of flexibility options like energy storage systems, fast-acting flexible load, and employing onsite generation, along with grid energy procurement, enables large customers to optimize their energy portfolio from multiple sources, including bilateral contracts and the pool market. Several case studies using a large industrial load are used to evaluate the properties of the suggested energy procurement strategy and integrated flexibility scheduling, as well as their advantages.
