With a low 5-year survival rate, pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer due to late diagnosis and a proclivity for resistance to traditional therapies. Currently available treatments including chemotherapy and radiation are usually marginally effective and highly toxic, emphasizing the pressing requirement for new, more effective therapies. The natural products, especially the compounds extracted from the plant, such as flavonoids, have become notable due to their anticancer effects. Induction of apoptosis, inhibition of cell proliferation and prevention of metastasis by flavonoids have been reported in several cancers and use of these agents as potential drug candidates has emerged as promising. Yet, the antitumor property of flavonoids isolated from lesser explored plants such as Nepeta species, especially toward pancreatic cancer, is largely unknown. Thus, it will provide valuable insight into the anticancer potential of Nepeta species with high levels of flavonoids when there is lack of its studies. The investigation may pave the way for novel effective and less toxic therapeutic agents in pancreatic cancers, which have few treatment options. In summary, concentrating on species of Nepeta, this study contributes to the therapeutic use of drugs against cancer and meets the increasing global interest in using natural products as drugs, which could respond to the limitation of the synthetic drugs. The results may potentially offer new therapeutic approaches and pharmacological insights regarding Nepeta-derived flavonoids
